What is healthy living? Everyone has their own opinion for that question. But the gist of it healthy living means consuming the right quantities of foods from all food groups in order to lead a healthy life. I won't go into details, that's for another post. Tucked in a tranquil small estate in the Eastern side of Singapore, there is a cosy family-owned vegan café called Happy Tree.
We happen to chance upon this healthy café while satisfying unhealthy cravings of braised chicken feet noodles, Chendol and Bak Kwa. From the looks of their menu, they seem to serve dishes that leans more towards the Japanese Cuisine; Brown Rice Nori, Ramen Pasta, Brown Rice Ramen Soup, etc. Since we were still full, we ordered the Brown rice nori and 2 smoothies; Mango twister (which is their new flavor) and Avogreen.
Looks simple, but very flavourful unlike any vegetarian dishes you eat that are bland and taste bad. And for a vegetarian dish, it's packed with umami flavor (^-^)b
C usually do not choose healthy food but she loves this. So this really have got to be good... which I agree as I love meat too much to not want to exclude from any meals. I even tried to be just a weekday vegetarian but it failed on the very day as I went to eat meat for dinner. After tasting the brown rice nori, I really don't feel like there's anything missing in this dish.
Unlike it's traditional counterpart, the Inarizushi which is made from sushi rice wrapped inside the seasoned deep-fried tofu pockets called “Inari Age” (pronounce it like E-nari-Ah-geh). The ones from Happy Tree is packed with a healthy dose of organic brown rice, shiitake mushroom and carrots. [Technically it should not be called brown rice nori since nori actually means seaweed and the only seasweed is sprinkled on top. It should be Brown Rice Inari *\o/*]

Mango Twister made with REAL mango and apple juice. It looks little for $5 but its made with real mango so I really don't mind paying but maybe not everyday. :P And I know it looks like its very little but we ordered to go and the cup was bigger then the portion. The other smoothie was Avogreen ($5.50), but we did not manage to take a photo before I drank the whole cup :x
My only complain is that the honey and the brown rice milk used seems to overpower the taste of the avocado. But I will still give it a THUMBS UP! For their smoothie, they use fresh fruits that have been frozen to give it a thick and velvety texture without any cream added.

So if you're in the neighbourhood or you're game to try healthy food for a change, so check Happy Tree out. ♡❤♡❤♡❤♡❤♡❤
