Day 5:
We were supposed to be on 'business trip' to get stocks for C's online shop but we decided to rest for a day and just go round eating.
Our plan for the day was:
Saeb x2 Wonton Noodles
Mont Non Sod (MBK)
Mr Jones' Orphanage Cafe (Siam Centre)
Ka-Nom (Siam Square)
Huaplachongnonsea Junior (Central World)
But we only managed to go to the first 3 places due to an unforeseen circumstances we had to cut short our makan day...

Saeb X2 Wonton Noodles
First stop of the day, Saeb X2 Wonton Noodles or Sab X2 Wonton Noodles. When we asked the hotel staff for the direction, he was saying not worth to go there but he said it is all up to individual to decide on the taste. Since its touted as the "Best Wanton Noodles in Bangkok", we decided to give it a go since it's near our hotel and since everyone says its do darn good.
With the weather scorching and through the narrow side walks and navigating around people, food stalls and clothes stalls, we finally found the place. Thankfully, the interior was fully air conditioned. The place was really filled with non-Thais; either Singaporeans or Malaysians. The lady who took our order was even very fluent in mandarin.
Since the Wanton Mee and the Braised Pork Trotter & Intestines.
Since the Wanton Mee and the Braised Pork Trotter & Intestines.
With all the rave about the Wanton Mee, we thought that it would be out of the world. But sadly, there was nothing special about the Wanton Mee at all. It was just okay.. nothing much to rave about.
The dry one has no sauce, unlike the ones we are used to in Singapore but it has a very generous amount of fried lard so it's rather oily. And the portion is also really small. *thank goodness i ate cookies before this if not I'll be starving!*
The only dish worth raving is the braised pork trotters and intestines. It was nicely braised that the flavour went all the way through the meat. The meat from the pork trotters is so tender that you don't have to chew very long to break the pieces down. and the intestines were so soft and easy to chew and it does not have any foul smell means they have cleaned the intestines very well.
If anyone asks me, I will say stick to the street food vendors, no point coming here to eat the Wanton Mee unless they like braised pork trotters and intestines then head to this place and just order the braised meat. I guess this place is for those tourist aka Singaporeans who are not used to eating food out of their comfort zone.
We ordered 6 bowls of Wanton Mee (5 dry, 1 soup) and 1 plate of mixed braised (pork trotters & small intestines) cost about 500 plus Baht.

Mont Non Sod
Mont Nom Sod cafe is situated at MBK level two that specialise in Toast and Milk. Their bread is nothing like Ya Kun’s or even toast box. Their toast is crispy on the surface and fluffy soft on the inside. There are many choices for the toast spread; Coconut Custard, Condensed Milk, Chocolate, Taro spread, Pumpkin spread and Corn spread.
The shop is relatively small and in fact, all of the tables were taken up but yet, many people still queue to for the bread and milk. This proves that to show Mont Nom Sod is serving simple food at its best!

The coconut custard is similar to our Kaya in Singapore. Just that it is of a different color and it has more coconut fragrance and taste unlike the Kaya in Singapore that has more of an eggy taste.
The steamed bread is soft yet firm at the same time; unlike any steamed bread. Dipped into the aromatic coconut custard, the coconut milk fragance is the first to hit you. Then the smooth and warm coconut taste hits you.

White fresh milk is normally not as sweet but Mont Nom Sod’s is a sweetened version. *I guess the Thais really like sweet stuffs*! I quite like it although I do not usually drink sweet milk, plus they give ice so it will dilute a little. Give the milk a try.. After all, what is a visit to milk cafe without trying their milk?

Mr Jones' Orphanage Café - Siam Centre
It feels like stepping into a whimsical world of childhood fantasies to feed the lost child in us, like Peter Pan. Filled with fluffy teddy bears, vintage prints, toys and what more, there's cakes and other sweets; isn't it ever child's dream?!?!?
With all the cakes displayed, the choices were abundant to choose from.. plus other desserts on the menu, we were so spoilt for choice.
There are two different locations of Mr. Jones’ Orphanage in Bangkok, the one we went ia at Siam Centre shopping centre and the other is at Thong Lor area.
The atmosphere and , decoration of Mr Jones’ Orphanage is undoubtedly amazing. It’s the type of place you might either take your kids, or your date, for a place to relax, or to act like you’re a child again. But, I will advise against big groups as they only have table for 4 or for 2. And if you like spacious spaces so you can sit comfortably I will also advise not to visit as the sitting is REALLY CRAMP, just like an over crowded orphanage.
